Good morning, Mr. Fong Yik-chan, Chairman of the Education Bureau's Home-School Cooperation Committee, Mr. Cheng, School Supervisor, distinguished guests, school board members, vice principals, teachers, parents, and students!
I will now give a brief report on school affairs. First of all, the program booklet you all have contains the school's written report for the previous academic year, namely 2022/2023, along with some photos, for your reference.
This academic year, 2023/2024, is the first year of a new development cycle for our school. Regarding learning and teaching, we are promoting small group learning in the classroom. Through students' cooperation and mutual learning, we aim to enhance students' self-learning abilities and construct knowledge.
Recent self-assessment data from schools indicates that over 80% of teachers agree that various learning activities are frequently incorporated into classroom teaching, such as student discussions and oral presentations, to assist student learning. Furthermore, classroom observations by principals, vice-principals, and subject heads show that teachers are promoting collaborative learning in the classroom, encouraging students to respond to others' opinions, engage in dialogue, ask questions, or relay questions. Students are gradually developing independent learning habits and abilities, and initial results are already evident.
This year, our school also implemented accessible learning, which involves daily small-scale quizzes of about 10 minutes each to help students track their learning progress and move on to the next learning point only after mastering the necessary content. Self-assessment data shows that all teachers believe they can provide students with timely and concrete feedback, promoting reflection and improvement. Over 60% of students agreed that they try their best to overcome learning difficulties. 80% of students reflect on the effectiveness of their learning strategies. This demonstrates that accessible learning helps students review their learning progress and make effective reflections and improvements. The school will continue to optimize these measures so that students can understand their learning progress, identify and overcome learning difficulties, and achieve continuous and gradual improvement in their academic performance.
Regarding school life and activities, students strongly agree that the learning opportunities provided by the school, including extracurricular activities, allow them to develop their interests and life skills. This is believed to be largely due to the implementation of Friday afternoon activity periods this year, which offer students a diverse range of physical, artistic, and other activities. Furthermore, various departments have actively organized a variety of community-based holistic learning and career planning activities, as well as strengthened class management activities. Next year, the school will continue in this direction, especially strengthening student leadership training and providing more opportunities for students to demonstrate their leadership abilities; it will also continue to strengthen junior and senior high school class management activities to enhance students' sense of belonging to the school. In fact, regardless of the specific work done on the school's concerns, the most important thing is the students' performance and their ability to achieve holistic development.
I believe that the excellent performance of the students on stage just now in terms of academics, character, service, extracurricular activities, and continuous progress is a testament to the efforts of our school's teaching team in recent years, which is also thanks to the full support of our school's Incorporated Board of Directors.
I also believe that many more students who are not receiving awards on stage today are making continuous progress in their daily school life, in their behavior, conduct, extracurricular activities, service, and test performance. Student progress is the greatest driving force behind teachers' hard work and dedication! The principal commends all students for their diverse achievements and progress, and sincerely thanks the teachers for their tireless efforts.
That concludes my brief report. I wish all of you Form Six graduates a bright future! And I hope you all enjoy good health and a wonderful summer vacation!
